History

In between weekend basketball games, high-school buddies John Franzone and Ben Marcantoni started replacing concrete driveways and sidewalks in the summer of 1978. F&M Contractors - "The Concrete Driveway Specialists" - were incorporated in February, 1979 and licensed by the Maryland State Home Improvement Commision. Ben MarcantoF&M Contracting - 25 Years of Quality Serviceni became the sole officer in 1981, when John Franzone left to join his family business Fawn Plastics. Ben took over, aware of the responsibility and reputation attached to operating the business out of his parents' home in Timonium. F&M Contractors, Inc. will celebrate its 25th year anniversary in its new home in Cockeysville, MD. The move will allow us to streamline the business to better serve customers' needs.

In May 2004 we proudly had our 25th anniversary celebration. The celebration was attended by employees, both past and present, friends, family and associates. The company presented service awards to long time employee Darryl Jackson, Eric Nickel and owner Ben Marcantoni.

Ben, after being in the concrete driveway business for 29 years, has not lost sight of the clear fact that he is a third-generation concrete finisher following the successes of his father and grandfather, natives of Baltimore's Little Italy. In 1994 Ben's brother, Andy Marcantoni, joined the company and is currently involved in production and other aspects of the business. In 2004 cousin TJ Castagna joined F&M and is involved in sales and marketing. All three family members are working hard to keep F&M Contractors a leader in the concrete replace business, providing customers with total satisfaction during the entire F&M experience.

During the last 29 years F&M has successfully and proudly completed over 5000 concrete jobs. Some of our jobs of the past include renovations to popular local restaurants, Pearce's Plantation and the historic Manor Tavern. Our largest project to date has been concrete improvements to the Belair Road and Frankfurt Ave intersection of Northeast Baltimore City. Our history also includes many area churches and a few private schools. We've also poured concrete at the Texas Plant for Lafarge F&M Contracting - Concrete Truckwhich is located in Cockeysville, MD. Lafarge is one of the largest ready mix concrete suppliers in the Baltimore Metro area. Recently we completed the installation of a new concrete sidewalk at the Hillendale Country Club connecting a distant parking area to the clubhouse.

Also over the last 29 years of being in the concrete construction business we've built a small fleet of trucks and equipment to help us provide great service to our customers. In 2007 Our fleet has grown again with the purchase of a 2005 John Deere backhoe. We presently have 4 single axle dump trucks, including the purchase of new 2005 International dump truck. Our Dump trucks are used for hauling old concrete, stone, dirt and old blacktop. We also use 4 full size pickup trucks, and 2 Toyota pick-up trucks. We also use 4 John Deere backhoes for excavating, loading dirt, stone and concrete. We even plow snow with the equipment when the snowfall is too much for a regular plow, like the winter of 2003 and the blizzard of 1996. We also use a small case skid steer loader for loading topsoil at our shop and old concrete on job sites.
